Professionals Recognized as Top Performers in YTEK's "Best of the Best" Awards
Celebrating the Best: YATEK Skills Competition
YAKUTIA.INFO. The YATEK horizon shimmered with excitement as the annual "Best in Profession" awards took center stage on May 23. This year, skilled workers showcased their talents in a competition that spanned six months, with a staggering 219 participants testing their mettle across six blocks of various trades.
Unlike past years, the competition this time focused on entire professional directions instead of individual professions. From drilling wells to driving skills, the competition welcomed 22 different trades to the limelight.
Phase one was a whirlwind sprint through the iSpring platform, bearing 100 questions on each participant's profession, industrial safety, corporate values, and gas industry history. With a strict one-minute limit per question, the battle of wits was fierce yet swift.
Advancing through to the second stage, participants faced practical cases at real production sites, giving expert commissions an up-close look at their ability to handle professional tasks, ranging from equipment repair to managing technological facilities. Of the initial 219 contestants, 87 managed to push through, with 59 flying the flag for the final round.
The nail-biting third stage proved a true test of emergency readiness. Participants charged through an obstacle course laden with three tasks: donning gas masks within a set time, providing first aid for a broken arm with splinting, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Speed and accuracy were judged meticulously using special checklists.
The grand prize pool totaled over two million rubles, with winners earning anywhere from 50,000 to 150,000 rubles, depending on their final ranking. In the "Gas Processing" category, the judges couldn't decide on a single champion, resulting in a tie for first place among three exceptionally proficient participants.
Meet the champions: capital repair well driller Oleg Aypov, technological unit operator Nikolai Alferev, product operator Natalia Pakhomova, chemical analysis laboratory assistant Nyurguiya Ivanova, repair mechanic Ilnar Zaydullin, KIPIA fitter Sergei Imigenov, technological pump operator Alexander Pechterev, and car driver Alexander Kudryavtsev.
"I felt the urge to compete again even though I had already won last year. I wanted to gauge my growth over the past year. I was particularly anxious about the first aid stage, fearing I wouldn't be able to handle a real-world situation. But when you have passion for your profession, the success follows naturally. I learn something new everyday, and that's an incredible feeling," shared Natalia Pakhomova, a fellow goods operator.
Sergei Imigenov, a KPI fitter, echoed her sentiments, saying, "I think our KPI department aced the competition effortlessly. We have top-notch professionals on our team, whose versatility and readiness for any challenge truly sets us apart."
Alexei Dorofeev, the head of the mining shop, weighed in on the significance of the competition: "This competition is more than a mere contest. It's a robust test of professionalism and determination to excel in challenging conditions. This year, we opted for a new approach, categorizing the competition by directions and beefing up the safety tests. We aimed to identify potential masters and leaders, and to pinpoint areas where we could improve our training programs. The results were astounding: the capacity of our specialists knows no bounds."
