The construction in the industrial area "In der Euer Heide" in Bakum has begun, marking the start of a new phase for the THW. The new building, spanning approximately 1,000 square meters, will serve as an operational base for aid within the country.

Specialist groups, including the Fachzug Führung and Kommunikation, will find sufficient space in the new building. The facility will house training facilities, equipment storage areas, and coordination centres, making it a vital hub during emergency responses.

The federal government is investing approximately ten million euros in this project, with Lutz Brinkmann, a member of the Bundestag, representing the federal government and providing the financial resources for the project. A Nationwide Effort

This construction project in Melle is part of a broader programme aiming to create up to 200 new accommodations nationwide. The vice-president of the THW, Dierk Hansen, included the construction in the THW construction program 2020-2030.
