PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power Wins Asian Impact Awards Platinum for 'Green Village' Program
PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) has been recognised for its sustainable initiatives, receiving the Platinum Award for Global Sustainable Development at the Asian Impact Awards 2025. The company's 'Green Village' program, now in its second consecutive year of winning this prestigious award, has transformed coal waste into eco-friendly fertilizer and boosted local communities' incomes.
HBAP's largest investment in Indonesia, a 2×660 MW mine-mouth power plant in Muara Enim, South Sumatra, has been operational since October 2023. The plant's Unit 1 has been delivering stable energy, contributing to the company's vision of integrating green development with local community growth.
The 'Green Village' program, which has significantly enhanced food security and raised household incomes, provides four core contributions: free fertilizer, improved seeds, expert guidance, and guaranteed produce procurement. The program transforms treated coal ash into eco-friendly fertilizer and develops greenhouse farming, while also delivering agricultural training to local communities.
HBAP's commitment to sustainability and community partnership is evident in its receipt of the Platinum Award for the second consecutive year. The company's 'Green Village' program not only addresses environmental concerns by repurposing coal waste but also creates shared economic and social benefits for local communities.
