Railway Track Improvements in Nunkirchen: Upgrades worth B 268, L 148, and L 152
Headline: Road Repair Works Begin in Merzig-Wadern District from June 2025
The Merzig-Wadern district in Saarland, Germany, is set to experience road repair works starting from June 20, 2025. The State Road Authority (SRA) will be carrying out these works, which are scheduled to be completed by September 20, 2025.
The project encompasses several key areas: the renovation of the roundabout at the town center (B 268 / L 148 / L 152), the street Im Flürchen (L 148) towards Wadern, and the Weiskircher Straße (L 152) towards Thailen.
The works will be carried out in three phases with full closure, with detours running via Thailen (L 152 / L 151), Wadern, and Noswendel (L 148) in both directions. Similarly, works on L 148 will be carried out in three phases with detours via Limbach (L 333 / L 145) and Michelbach (B 268) in both directions.
Phase 1 (Roundabout B 268 / L 148 / L 152) will take place from June 20, 2025, to approximately June 23, 2025, with several large detours available. Motorists are advised to consider potential delays in their route planning and allocate sufficient time for detours.
Detours for Phase 1 include L 157 from Losheim to Weiskirchen, then continue towards Wadern; L 369 through Niederlosheim and Wahlen towards Michelbach and Schmelz; and L 333 From Schmelz to Wadern (and vice versa) via Limbach and Büschfeld.
Phase 2 on L 148 is expected to take about three weeks. Alongside the roundabout renovation, the asphalt surface of L 148 and L 152 will be renewed, along with the replacement of channel plates and road drains.
Some works will be carried out during the summer holidays to minimize disruption to school bus services. Three bus bays along L 148 will be repaired in asphalt form.
The SRA anticipates traffic disruptions and will provide updates on significant changes and individual phases. Affected residents will be notified via flyers. The respective operators will announce any changes in bus services.
The project has been coordinated with public transportation, and changes in bus services and relocated stops will be announced by the respective operators. The completion of works on L 148 is scheduled for late August 2025.
Phase 7 (L 152 towards Thailen) will start in early September 2025, with repair work between the roundabout and the town exit, approximately 800 meters. The entire project is weather-dependent and subject to a smooth construction process.
Stay informed and plan your routes accordingly as the SRA works to improve the road infrastructure in the Merzig-Wadern district.
