Yekaterinburg Wage Growth Surges by Nearly 20% in a Year

According to the first deputy governor of the Sverdlovsk region, Alexei Shmykov, wages in the region have significantly increased over the past year, with Yekaterinburg's average wage reaching around 101,000 rubles in 2024 — a 20% jump compared to 2023.

Shmykov shared this information during a report to the regional legislative assembly. In 2023, the average wage in the region was approximately 65,000 rubles.

Analysts speculate that by 2028, half of the region's residents could earn a wage of 100,000 rubles.

Previously, the director of the department of economics, Alexei Pryadein, announced that Yekaterinburg's average wage surpassed 100,000 rubles in 2024. This growth came as a result of a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Wage growth in Yekaterinburg's key industries, specifically construction and processing, has witnessed considerable progress. Experts believe that the average wage in the region might reach 115,000 rubles by the end of 2025.

While specific projections for wage growth in Yekaterinburg and the Sverdlovsk region beyond 2025 and 2028 are not readily available, the defense and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sectors are showing promising growth in Russia. These sectors, particularly aerospace, defense technology, and related manufacturing industries, may offer high wage growth potential in the coming years.

Yekaterinburg, as a major industrial and economic center of the Sverdlovsk region, traditionally drives economic output and wage dynamics through its established sectors including metallurgy, machinery, and manufacturing. As such, these industries are expected to continue playing a significant role in the region's wage growth.

Businesses in Yekaterinburg's key industries, such as construction, processing, and manufacturing, have experienced notable wage growth, with experts predicting the average wage in these sectors to reach 115,000 rubles by the end of 2025. This growth, driven by sectors like defense and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), particularly aerospace, defense technology, and related manufacturing industries, presents significant potential for finance sector growth in the coming years.
