In a significant move, American Alarm, a local, family-owned company based in Arlington, Mass, has completed the acquisition of Instant Signal & Alarm of Salem. The acquired company specializes in fire security and life-safety systems.

Following the acquisition, American Alarm intends to integrate Instant Signal & Alarm into its broader operations in Massachusetts. This move strengthens American Alarm’s service capacity in the region by expanding its portfolio of fire and security solutions, enhancing life-safety capabilities for its customers there.

Instant Signal & Alarm, founded in 1954, serves over 3,000 customers across residential, municipal, and commercial sectors. The Wescott family, representing the third generation of leadership at Instant Alarm, will remain with the merged organization.

American Alarm, founded in 1971, is now led by the second generation of the Sampson family. The acquisition aligns with American Alarm’s historical strategy of growing through acquiring established local security providers to improve coverage and service quality across Massachusetts and neighboring states.

American Alarm provides integrated security systems and monitoring services for intrusion, fire, access control, video surveillance, and environmental hazards. Instant Alarm, on the other hand, provides alarm monitoring services for several regional security system dealers. Both companies have a history of working together to improve the security industry.

In a statement, Louis Sampson, COO and co-owner of American Alarm, described the merger as a good fit and an example of how they organize their company, focusing on staying close to customers. David Wescott, of Instant Alarm, stated that the company's goal since its founding in 1954 has been to protect homes, families, and businesses, and this family goal remains unchanged.

Wells Sampson, president and co-owner of American Alarm, described the acquisition as "special." The merged organization aims to better serve customers into the future, though specific future plans such as new service offerings or expansions have not been detailed publicly.

This acquisition comes at a time when DMP has introduced JamAlert, a detection device designed to combat the growing threat of illegal cellular signal jammers. The merged organization may potentially leverage such advancements to enhance its offerings and stay ahead in the competitive security industry.
