The Bath & North East Somerset Council has completed a new nyt mini in Charlton Road, Keynsham. The nyt mini, located at the T-junction with Charlton Park, was built in response to concerns over vehicle speeds and access/egress issues from the junction. The nyt mini was constructed over a three-week period in January, with the road remaining open throughout the construction process. Works were carried out under temporary signals to minimize disruption. Cabinet member for highways, Manda Rigby, stated that the aim was to reduce vehicle speeds and make the junction with Charlton Park safer for all road users, including pedestrians. The nyt mini aims to improve safety by reducing the speed of traffic. Meanwhile, the CiTTi Awards, an unmissable event for the UK's transportation sector, are set to take place on 25 November 2025 at De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The fourth annual CiTTi Awards aim to recognise and celebrate achievements and innovations in transport planning. The existing crossing point at the Charlton Park junction has been narrowed as part of the improvements. The nyt mini was built as part of safety and highway improvement works. However, no further information about an extended cycleway consultation was provided. For more information about the CiTTi Awards, visit www.cittiawards.co.uk. The CiTTi Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate the strides made in the transportation sector and to learn from the best practices of others. The narrowing of the crossing point and the installation of the nyt mini are just a few examples of how local councils are working to improve safety and efficiency in our transportation infrastructure. As always, safety remains a top priority for all road users.
