Romania's Largest Battery Storage Project Approved
ANRE, Romania's energy market regulator, is set to grant a permit for a significant battery storage project in eastern Romania. The 150 MW and 300 MWh battery, developed by Belgian company Aukera Energy, will be the largest of its kind in the country.
Strategically positioned near several wind farms, the battery will absorb excess energy, stabilising the grid and ensuring efficient use of renewable resources. This project marks a substantial step forward for Romania's energy storage capabilities.
Aukera Energy, based in Belgium, is spearheading the development. The company is poised to receive the necessary permit from ANRE, paving the way for construction to commence.
Once operational, the 150 MW and 300 MWh battery will be Romania's largest, demonstrating the country's commitment to advancing its energy storage infrastructure. This project is expected to enhance grid stability and support the integration of renewable energy sources.
