On May 10, 2025, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A8 highway towards Karlsruhe near Ludwigsburg. The incident involved a 71-year-old driver of a Daimler-Benz Actros tractor-trailer.

According to the Ludwigsburg Police Headquarters, the accident took place at approximately 07:35 AM. The driver veered off the road to the right, crashing through the guardrail and damaging road infrastructure for about 100 meters.

Unfortunately, the tractor-trailer was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The total material damage to the tractor-trailer and road infrastructure amounted to approximately 90,000 euros.

The accident resulted in minor traffic disruptions, causing a backup of up to 6 kilometers until around 4:25 PM. To manage the situation, the hard shoulder, the right lane, and partially the middle lane were closed.

Additionally, approximately 75 meters of soil had to be removed at the scene of the accident due to leaking operating fluids. The environmental water authority was called to handle the situation.
