On September 11, 2020, Santander Brazil and Central Única de Favelas (CUFA) are set to launch a social initiative aimed at raising funds for basic goods baskets. This initiative is part of Santander Week, an annual event by Santander Brazil since 2007 that celebrates company pride and community connection. This year, Santander Week will take place from September 21 to 26.

The fundraiser, which will close on September 26 with a special event, is crucial in these challenging times as it aims to help those who have always been vulnerable become less so. The Mães da Favela project, at the heart of this initiative, promotes dignity by donating baskets of basic goods or digital baskets of the same cash value to those in need.

The drive is receiving donations from employees, customers, and the community. Cash donations, starting from R$5, will go directly to a current account for CUFA to put together basic goods baskets, each worth R$120. The event is expected to be a public affair, engaging society in Santander's culture of serving others and multiplying the impact of their annual drive.

Sérgio Rial, country head of Santander Brazil, emphasizes the importance of this initiative, stating that it is a public affair to engage society in Santander's culture of serving others and multiplying the impact of their annual drive. Solidarity is a key aspect of this initiative, as it unites people under a project that promotes dignity, run by CUFA.

The 12-hour broadcast of the event will be on 24 TV and radio outlets, including Band, Record, Cultura, RedeTV, SBT, Warner, TNT, TNT Series, Space, Record News, CNN Brasil, AgroMais, BandNews, Discovery, AMC, Sony (via YouTube), CBN, Antena 1, Band FM, Transamérica, Nativa FM, portal Terra, Yahoo, and Jovem Pan (via YouTube). Confirmed hosts for the event are Maria Paula and Hélio de La Peña.

In addition to these hosts, celebrities such as Gilberto Gil, Fábio Porchat, Ícaro Silva, Djamila Ribeiro, Silvio Almeida, and Nega Giza are also confirmed participants in the event. The aim is to garner the support of other TV and radio networks for the broadcast, which will also feature other artists and influencers.

Due to the pandemic, the event will be held outside Santander's branches and corporate buildings, inviting broader society to participate. Women, many of whom own small businesses, are the heads of about half the households in these communities, and the initiative aims to support families and communities affected financially by the pandemic.

For more information about the celebrities participating in the event, we recommend checking official announcements from Santander Brazil, Central Única de Favelas (CUFA), or major Brazilian media outlets near the event date, as this appears to be a recent or upcoming initiative not covered here.
