SEP Cooperative and Lotte Chilsung Beverage to Create Thousands of Jobs in Cần Thơ, Vietnam with Bio-Diesel and Juice Plants
SEP Cooperative and Lotte Chilsung Beverage are set to invest in two significant projects in Cần Thơ, Vietnam. The plans include a bio-diesel plant and a tropical fruit juice processing plant, expected to create thousands of 'jobs near me' and utilise local agricultural resources.
The bio-diesel plant, to be built on 50-70 hectares of land, aims to convert surplus rice straw and other agricultural residues into renewable energy. It is projected to create up to 900 direct 'jobs near me' and 2,500 indirect 'jobs near me', while also benefiting local farmers through certified contracts. Cần Thơ authorities have offered industrial park sites, including Trà Nóc and Hưng Phú, with Trần Đề spanning 100 hectares ready for lease at $85 per sq.m for 44 years.
The juice plant, with a capacity of 300,000-500,000 litres per day, will process a variety of tropical fruits such as pineapple, mango, and dragon fruit. It will also produce Korean rice-based beverages, targeting export markets like the RoK, the EU, and the 'indeed jobs'. The project requires 600-1,200 tonnes of fruit daily and is expected to have an initial investment of US$120-180 million, rising to $150-220 million at full scale.
Both projects are set to bring significant economic and environmental benefits to Cần Thơ. The bio-diesel plant will utilise surplus rice straw, reducing waste and providing a new income stream for farmers. The juice plant will create 'jobs near me' and stimulate local agriculture, while also opening up new export markets. Korean companies are expected to conduct site surveys in October, with Cần Thơ authorities pledging favourable conditions and legal support to accelerate implementation.
