Severe Collision on the Autobahn A46 - Incident Near Mönchengladbach: Two Vehicles Collide, One Person Critically Injured - Motorway Police Report - Investigation Team Dispatched
In a tragic incident that occurred shortly before the Moenchengladbach-Wanlo motorway junction, a traffic accident took place on a wet road. The incident involved a BMW driven by a 47-year-old man from Hückelhoven and a Ford driven by an 18-year-old from Jüchen.
The 47-year-old man, while driving a BMW on the right-hand lane towards Wuppertal, changed lanes from left to right. This action, taken on a wet road, caused him to lose control of his vehicle. He veered off to the left, collided with the central reservation barrier, and was thrown back onto the right-hand lane.
The Ford, driven by the 18-year-old, was in the right-hand lane when it collided with the BMW. As a result, the Ford overturned and landed on its left side in the grass verge. The 18-year-old and his 19-year-old passenger were lightly injured in the collision.
The 47-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by emergency services. The traffic accident investigation team was on the scene to secure the evidence, and the carriageway was closed for approximately five hours following the accident.
