Shougang and Shangri-La establish partnership for the development of a hotel in Shougang Park, Beijing.
The Shangri-La Shougang Park, Beijing, has opened its doors to guests, marking a significant transformation of a former steel mill within the historic Shougang industrial zone. Designed by the Milan-based Lissoni Casal Ribeiro architectural firm, the hotel seamlessly blends industrial heritage with modern luxury and sustainable design. The facilities boast raw industrial aesthetics, such as exposed steel structures, combined with natural light, refined textures, vertical gardens, water features, and warm timber elements for comfort and elegance.
The Shangri-La Shougang Park offers family-themed suites, a mezzanine spa lounge called The Nest, featuring an elevated indoor pool, and other bespoke amenities, making it suitable for family and leisure travellers. As a cultural destination, it is surrounded by art installations, urban gardens, and viewing points of Olympic landmarks like the Big Air Shougang ski jump, located just steps from the hotel.
The hotel's strategic location makes it a significant part of the Olympic legacy zone, close to key venues such as the Big Air Shougang ski jump, now a cultural icon and sports landmark built on this industrial heritage site. During the 2022 Winter Olympics, the transformed Shougang area, including this hotel site, served as official accommodation for International Olympic Committee delegates and other participants.
The Shangri-La Shougang Park officially opened its doors in July 2025 and has been operational since then. The hotel project is a joint venture between the Shougang Group and the Shangri-La Group, with the new development incorporating modern designs and green concepts into the heritage industrial estate.
The hotel management agreement was signed in a ceremony attended by Zhang Gongyan, Chairman and General Manager of Shougang Group, Hui Kuok, Chairman of Shangri-La Group, Guo Huaigang, Director of General Administration, The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Wang Yue, Deputy Chief of Beijing Culture & Tourism Bureau, and Ke Yongguo Deputy Head of Shijingshan District Government.
