The Fristo beverage store in Küngelinstraße, Leutkirch, which has been a staple since December 1999, recently closed its doors on August 30th. This closure is part of a continuous analysis and adjustment of Fristo's branch network.

Fristo, headquartered in Buchloe, operates over 240 beverage stores in Germany and Tyrol. Despite the closure in Leutkirch, there are still several Fristo branches in the vicinity, such as in Bad Wurzach, Isny, Wangen, and Dietmannsried.

Rumours have been circulating about the successor for the Fristo store in Leutkirch. According to local reports and a Facebook group, "You know you're from Leutkirch if...", Fressnapf is the rumoured candidate. Many Leutkirch residents have expressed enthusiasm about this potential change.

Fressnapf, Europe's leading pet supply retailer, operates in 15 European countries and boasts around 2,700 stores, employing approximately 20,000 people across the continent. However, it's important to note that Fressnapf has not yet been confirmed as the successor for the Fristo store in Leutkirch.

The large store previously occupied by Fristo will be taken over by Edeka. The closures of Fristo, along with Aldi, Kik, and Takko, in the region are unlikely to lead to a long-lasting vacancy phase, as other businesses are already moving in.

A denial from Fressnapf regarding the rumoured Leutkirch branch would sound different. More clarity regarding the potential Fressnapf branch in Leutkirch should be available in a few weeks. The official announcement regarding the successor for the Fristo store in Leutkirch is expected in October.

In the meantime, Fressnapf branches can already be found in Wangen and Memmingen in the region. Fressnapf's entry into Leutkirch, if it happens, would follow the same trend of other retailers expanding their presence in the area.
