Statistics on Tesla's Sales, Income, and Manufacturing Output
In 2024, the Tesla Model Y secured the title of the most popular electric vehicle (EV) in the United States, with a staggering 372,613 sales. This success continued into early 2025, as Tesla maintained its strong position in the global EV market.
In January 2025, the top 10 electric car manufacturers were revealed, with BYD leading the pack. Tesla followed closely in second place, while Geely, Wuling, Volkswagen, BMW, Xpeng, Li Auto, Toyota, and Leap Motor rounded out the list. Despite being the second most popular EV manufacturer, Tesla's Model Y was not the top-selling EV in every region.
In China, the Model Y ranked third in sales, with 25,694 units sold in January 2025. In Europe, the Model Y also held the third spot, with 5,890 sales during the same month. These figures placed Tesla behind BYD, which once again claimed the top spot in both regions.
Tesla's growth over the past decade is evident in its employee count, which has significantly increased from 899 in 2010 to 125,665 in 2024. The company's workforce expansion is reflected in the median base salary of its US-based employees on an H1-B visa, which stands at $145,805.
Software engineers at Tesla enjoy a more substantial compensation package, with a median total of $198,000. This high compensation is likely a result of the company's focus on innovation and technological advancement.
In line with its commitment to technological progress, Tesla has been actively expanding its Supercharger stations. By March 2025, Germany will host 3000 Superchargers at 246 locations, while maintaining a global presence with a total of 7,377 stations and 70,228 connectors worldwide by Q2 2025. This global network includes strong networks in North America, Europe, the Middle East, East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.
Tesla's manufacturing presence is also global, with 4 active automotive facilities in the United States, China, and Germany. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, it seems Tesla will remain a key player, with its focus on innovation, expansion, and quality products.
