Subaru Collaborates with Arbor Day Foundation in Environmental Conservation Effort
Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation Launch Largest Corporate Tree-Planting Effort
Subaru of America, Inc. and the Arbor Day Foundation have joined forces for an unprecedented tree distribution initiative, marking the largest single corporate investment in community tree planting in the Arbor Day Foundation's history. The collaboration, known as the Subaru Loves the Earth® initiative, aims to promote sustainability and environmental health across the United States.
The partnership, announced during Climate Week NYC, will result in hundreds of thousands of mature and native trees being distributed in local communities nationwide. Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation have donated over 100,000 trees to communities across the U.S. during events in 2025 alone.
The trees are carefully selected native species, such as Red Maple, Bald Cypress, Black Gum, and Silver Fir, tailored to local environments to ensure sustainability and maximize ecological impact. These trees support local ecosystems, improve air and water quality, and enhance community green spaces. For instance, a local Subaru dealership event in Norwich, NY, gave away over 100 trees, benefiting oxygen production, water filtration, and stormwater runoff avoidance for the neighborhood.
Individual Subaru dealerships participate by hosting giveaways and encouraging customers and residents to plant trees on private properties or in neighborhoods, reinforcing environmental stewardship at a community level. The partnership will also have a significant impact in cities like Camden, NJ, contributing to the rebuilding of its tree canopies and improving its overall environment.
Subaru's commitment to the environment is well-established, and this partnership is a natural extension of their previous and ongoing initiatives. Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President, Marketing at Subaru of America, Inc., stated, "Our partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation is a testament to our love of nature and our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment."
The partnership will fund hundreds of projects each year as the Foundation's largest partner of community tree projects. In Camden, NJ, the partnership will see 200 mature and native trees given away to community members. Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation will also volunteer during a "Camden Strong" neighborhood cleanup event in 2024.
Dan Lambe, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation, expressed gratitude for Subaru's commitment, stating it will help relieve pressure from climate change. He added, "This partnership will have an immediate positive environmental impact, helping to rebuild tree canopies, raise air quality, conserve water, reduce flooding, and improve community well-being."
American cities lose approximately 36 million trees every year due to disease, age, and extreme weather. By planting native trees, Subaru and the Arbor Day Foundation aim to counteract this loss and bring Subaru's love of nature back to communities on a large scale that will have a significant impact.
