Swiss Ethos Foundation Introduces New Climate Investment Fund
In a significant step towards sustainable investing, Ethos, in collaboration with Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV), has launched the Ethos Climate ESG Ambition fund on June 25, 2024. This global equity fund, denominated in CHF and registered in Luxembourg, is unique as it selects companies based on their high level of climate change ambition. It focuses on investments in sectors that promote environmental or social objectives while maintaining good governance practices. MSCI Global Large Cap serves as the benchmark for this fund.
The Ethos Climate ESG Ambition fund's strategy includes a significant emphasis on stock picking. The BCV's asset management team will identify and construct a portfolio of approximately 50 companies for Ethos Climate ESG Ambition. These companies, selected for their high level of climate change ambition, will back the energy transition.
Vincent Kaufmann, CEO of Ethos, stated that only around 100 of the 2,000 companies in the initial investment universe made it through Ethos's analysis process for the fund, underscoring the stringent criteria Ethos applies to ensure the fund's investments align with its mission.
Ethos Climate ESG Ambition is the first of Ethos's eight funds to be Article 9 compliant. It adheres to Ethos's Positive Impact Methodology, which ensures that investments have a positive impact on society and the environment.
Eric Chassot, CIO for Equities and a fund manager at BCV, made a statement about the new fund, saying, "We are excited to launch Ethos Climate ESG Ambition, which provides private and institutional investors with an opportunity to invest in growth opportunities associated with companies serving markets around the world whose products and services contribute to the ecological transition and combating climate change."
The strategic partnership between Ethos and BCV, announced in October 2020, includes six funds, with BCV Asset Management managing them while Ethos serves in an advisory role. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to sustainable investing and supporting companies that contribute to a more sustainable future.
The Ethos Foundation, a collaboration of over 250 Swiss pension funds, is partnering with Swiss cantonal lender Banque Cantonale Vaudoise (BCV) to launch Ethos Climate ESG Ambition. This collaboration underscores the growing interest in sustainable investing among institutional investors in Switzerland.
In conclusion, the Ethos Climate ESG Ambition fund offers a unique opportunity for investors to support companies that are leading the way in the energy transition and combating climate change. By investing in this fund, investors can align their portfolios with their values and contribute to a more sustainable future.
