Tata Motors Secures Second Place in PV Sales with 45% YOY Surge in September 2025
Tata Motors has reported a significant surge in passenger vehicle sales, with September 2025 seeing a 45% year-on-year increase. This marks the highest monthly sales record in the company's history, surpassing Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor India to secure second place in the market.
Tata's domestic car dispatches in September totalled 59,667 units, a remarkable rise from the 41,172 units sold in the same month last year. This strong performance follows a 59% year-on-year increase in electric vehicle sales in the second quarter of FY26, contributing 17% of Tata's total volumes.
The company's overall car sales in Q2 FY26 reached 140,189 units, an 8% increase from the previous year. This rebound follows a softer quarter, with September's volumes rising sharply by 45% over August.
Tata Motors' impressive car sales figures in September 2025 reflect the growing demand for its vehicles, particularly its electric offerings. Despite Maruti Suzuki retaining its market-leading position, Tata's strong performance has secured it the second spot, outpacing Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor India.
