Taxi Boss Meets Minister to Tackle Industry's Challenges in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Guido Sembach, head of the state taxi and rental car association, met with Minister President Manuela Schwesig to discuss the sector's challenges. Both parties agreed to continue talks to stabilise the industry in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Sembach raised concerns about increasing regulation threatening many local businesses. He also highlighted the lack of competitive equality in the industry. The meeting comes as Essen, a city of over 500,000 inhabitants, sets a positive example for fair competition.
Michael Oppermann, director of the federal association, stressed the importance of open dialogue with politics to address industry issues. The meeting follows warnings about insufficient financing of ambulance rides, which could harm the supply of services to elderly, sick, and disabled people, particularly in rural areas.
The meeting between Sembach and Schwesig marks a step towards addressing regulatory challenges and financing issues in the taxi and rental car sector. Both sides agreed to continue talks to develop concrete solutions and stabilise the industry in the region.
