Introducing the 2026 Maserati MCPura and MCPura Cielo: A Refinement of the MC20 Supercar
Maserati unveils the evolution of its MC20 supercar with the introduction of the MCPura and MCPura Cielo. These new models boast improvements in design, weight, aerodynamics, interior, and powertrain, while retaining the engine's F1-derived pre-chamber combustion system.
Design and Exterior
The MCPura and MCPura Cielo feature new paint colours, including AI Aqua Rainbow, Devil Orange, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction. The Trident logos and "MCPura" scripts sport a magenta tint with blue mica flakes, adding a touch of elegance to the exterior. The MCPura Cielo convertible comes with a retractable electric glass roof, offering a brighter and more airy feel inside the cabin.
Weight and Chassis
The MCPura coupe boasts a reduced weight of approximately 3,043 lbs (1,381 kg), while the Cielo adds just 25 lbs over the coupe, thanks to clever use of carbon fiber weave directions for structural reinforcement. The car retains a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, contributing to a light curb weight under 1,500 kg, supporting agility and performance.
Downforce and Aerodynamics
The MCPura and MCPura Cielo prioritize driving efficiency and improved aerodynamics, resulting in increased downforce. However, specific downforce figures have not been disclosed.
Interior
The interior of the MCPura introduces laser-etched Alcantara upholstery on the seats, creating three-dimensional vertical stripes resembling tire tread marks. A new steering wheel inspired by GT2 racing appears, featuring a flat top and an engine start button. The infotainment system remains largely unchanged, featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen running Android Automotive and a 10.25-inch digital driver display with performance pages.
Powertrain and Performance
The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged Nettuno V6 engine remains unchanged, delivering 621 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. Performance figures include 0-60 mph in under 2.9 seconds for the coupe and a top speed of over 202 mph. The Cielo convertible reaches a top speed of 199 mph.
Pricing and Availability
Production of the MCPura begins in Q3 this year at the Modena facility, with deliveries to U.S. customers expected in December. Only 120 numbered units for the U.S. and 10 for Canada will be produced, making it a rare model. Pricing has not been officially announced yet, but it's expected to be north of the current MC20's $243,000 starting point.
