The Building of the eWayBW Test Track Aufatmen in Murgtal: Road traffic on the B462 between Kuppenheim-Oberndorf is now uninterrupted

The completion of the eWayBW test track Aufatmen in the Murgtal area has alleviated traffic disruptions on the B462 route, specifically between Kuppenheim-Oberndorf.

The eWayBW test track demolition on the B462 in the Murg valley has been completed ahead of schedule, as reported by the Regional Press (RP). The demolition, which took place in four construction phases, marks the end of the testing phase for the suitability of overhead electric trucks on the B462.

The eWayBW project aimed to further develop the technology for electric trucks by testing it on the B462. The overhead line above the federal road in the electrification areas of Kuppenheim and Oberndorf has been removed as part of the project. However, no further details have been provided about the reason for the removal or the nature of the controversy surrounding the project.

The B462 will be closed overnight from July 24-25 for the removal of concrete barriers and deactivation of construction-related traffic signs. The road will reopen on July 31, 2025, at 5 am, with all four lanes available for traffic. Until then, the affected area will be protected by guideposts and an adjusted speed limit.

On July 30, 2025, one lane in each direction will be closed at the still-open median crossing for the construction of the safety barrier. The closure of the lanes will be lifted, and the B462 will be fully reopened for traffic on July 31, 2025, after the work is completed.

No information is currently available about potential traffic disruptions during the daytime after the overnight closure on July 24-25. Drivers are advised to check the latest local transport authority announcements for any updates.

During the closure, the detour for the B462 will be via Bad Rotenfels and Bischweier towards Muggensturm on the L67. The B462 will be fully open with all four lanes for traffic from July 25, 2025, at 5 am.

In addition to the eWayBW project, the noise protection walls in Kuppenheim-Oberndorf have been repaired earlier than expected, though no further details about the repairs have been provided.

As the eWayBW test track demolition comes to a close, the B462 in the Murg valley is set to reopen shortly, marking the end of a significant chapter in the development of electric truck technology.

The eWayBW project, centered around the development of electric vehicles in the automotive industry, has also seen the completion of the removal of the overhead line in the finance sector, hinting at potential investments in the transportation industry. The repaired noise protection walls in Kuppenheim-Oberndorf indicate a broader focus on improving the overall infrastructure along the B462.
