TMV Urges EU to Reconsider 2035 Ban on Combustion Engines

The Taxi and Rental Car Association (TMV) has voiced its stance on the EU's planned ban on combustion engines by 2035. TMV supports the German government's efforts to negotiate a more pragmatic and technologically open climate policy in Brussels.

TMV believes that the EU's current plan sends the wrong signal by not considering alternative technologies. The association advocates for a broad mix of technologies, including electric mobility, hydrogen drives, synthetic fuels, and alternative fuels like HVO 100.

TMV is not alone in its call for technological openness. Major automotive manufacturers and industrial locations, though not specifying names, have echoed this sentiment. They emphasize the need for solutions like synthetic fuels and hydrogen fuel cells. The ADAC and related German automotive organizations also support research into synthetic fuels and optimized powertrains as alternatives to combustion engines for climate goals.

TMV states that political funding certainty is crucial for taxi and rental car companies. It warns of ecological and economic disadvantages from a complete phase-out of combustion engines in passenger cars.
