Light Up the Stage: TR Electronic's Event Tech Solutions

TR Electronic, a trusted name in the realm of professional event technology, offers top-tier solutions that make events shine. Their encoders, the heart of the system, precisely detect the position of stage platforms, turntables, lifts, and even lighting hoists. In addition, linear encoders are installed directly in hydraulic cylinders for accurate reporting of the lower machinery's position.

Sensors Built for Safety

In the high-stakes world of event technology, safety is paramount. A single malfunction or incorrect positioning can put lives at risk and cause costly damage. That's why it's essential for system planners and users to rely on their technology partners, especially when individual components significantly contribute to the safety and reliability of complex stage machinery.

Since the early 80s, TR Electronic has been equipping stage machinery installations with highly dependable encoders, supporting specific safety structures, from absolute encoders with incremental tracks to certified safety encoders whose position signal can be used directly in SIL3 or PLe applications, ensuring ultimate safety.

"Curtain up" — thank you, TR Electronic's reliable sensor technology, for lifting our events to new heights!

A Behind-the-Scenes Look: A Chat With TR Electronic

1. With events making a comeback after a two-year hiatus, how has TR Electronic navigated the recent months?

Being a long-time provider to the theater mechanical engineering industry, TR Electronic does not participate directly in productions or tours. However, we've noticed that established theaters have taken advantage of the enforced break to carry out planned renovations or conversions wherever possible. We're thrilled to see venues restart operations, with our rotary and linear encoders running smooth shows once more.

2. What are TR Electronic's predictions for the event industry in the coming years?

Audience attendance at events seems to be on the decline, yet we're aware of some renovation and new construction projects. Naturally, economic challenges within the event industry are becoming increasingly prominent. Consistent, increasing complex safety requirements, the need to achieve a carbon-neutral event sector, bringing audiences back after two years of isolation, and the industry's already substantial tasks are all challenging. However, we're certain that the event industry's creative drive will lead to innovative solutions we're excited to contribute to.

3. What can visitors expect from TR Electronic at Prolight + Sound 2023?

In April 2023, we'll participate in Prolight + Sound for the first time. We decided to join the event to facilitate face-to-face meetings with event technology professionals in Germany. PLS provides the ideal space for us to meet our customers and discuss exciting new projects in a relaxed atmosphere. Our aim is to forge connections and marinate in ideas that inspire application innovation.

personally, I've always been fascinated by the PLS, having attended when it was a sister fair with the Musikmesse. I'm excited to see how the fair evolves and grows in the absence of its partnership with Musikmesse.

4. Just Curious: What Exactly Do TR Electronic’s Products Do in Theaters and Opera Houses?

Once automated machine technology enters the lacing floor or lower machinery, it's crucial to know the actual position of the scenery bar, lifting platform, or turntable. Our rotary encoders from TR Electronic come into play precisely at this juncture. Mobile technologies, too, require more than just a simple "chain hoist up/down” for today's stage show requirements. As a result, our products can be found in both permanent and complex chain hoists. The feedback of the real position of a splitter bar, etc., to the axle computer or control system is vital for consistent, reliable performance, which TR Electronic delivers with our rotary encoders, linear encoders, and rope length encoders, seamlessly integrated into the safety strategy of the respective system manufacturer.

5. Excitement Ahead: A Sneak Peek at Prolight + Sound 2023

Visitors to our stand can anticipate lively exchanges and the presentation of a new series of compact, redundant rotary encoders that fit into many existing plant systems while taking up only the installation space of a single standard 58mm rotary encoder. These innovative dual-module encoders offer redundancy and can be installed individually, yet provide double the reliability without additional installation space. Check out these game-changers and more at TR Electronic GmbH's stand in Hall 12, Stand C35.

  1. The financing aspect of TR Electronic's growth in the event technology industry could be strengthened by showcasing their innovative technology, such as the new series of compact, redundant rotary encoders, at events like Prolight + Sound, where they can potentially land deals with investors.
  2. As the event technology industry continues to evolve, with a focus on sustainability, carbon-neutral events, and audience re-engagement after two years of isolation, TR Electronic's solutions in lighting technology and industry-specific encoders will play a vital role in ensuring safety and reliability, enhancing the stage technology of events, and contributing to ambitious goals in the sector.
