Let's Chat About Freedom Plaza!
Say Goodbye to Affordable Housing Scarcity in Manhattan
Get ready to witness a revolution on the East Side of Midtown Manhattan, courtesy of the Freedom Plaza development! This visionary initiative will sprout up from 38th to 41st Street east of First Avenue, promising a whopping 1,049 new residential units, with over half reserved for the working folk with more than 20 affordable condominiums up for grabs to nurture home ownership dreams.
Setting newrecords for Manhattan, Freedom Plaza will deliver the highest number of newly built residential units in the central part of the city in over a decade, earning a spot among its most significant inclusionary housing initiatives.
The brainchild of the Soloviev Group and BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group (architects), and OJB Landscape Architecture (public spaces), Freedom Plaza spans an impressive 6.3-acre land. Over 5 acres of public open space will be designed to foster community bonds, while locally oriented retail, a wide variety of shopping, and dining options will cater to diverse tastes. To top it all off, a daycare center, food market, Museum of Democracy, and a community center will be part of the mix to promote civic engagement.
Two world-class hotels from heavyweights like Mohegan and the Banyan Tree hotels and resorts group will also find a home here. Guests can experience retail, dining, entertainment, and even a modern gaming zone grown-ups won't want to miss, all while backing local businesses through the Mohegan Momentum Partnership Program.
The Soloviev Group, driven by a commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility, plans to infuse the East Side with new life through the development of Freedom Plaza. With over six acres of green space, two world-class hotels, locally focused retail, museum, community center, and residential towers reserved for working families, the development will aim to help New York City thrive.
To guarantee quality employment opportunities for locals, 26 key New York labor organizations and workforce development partners have pledged their support for Freedom Plaza through signed Memorandums of Understanding. They anticipate the creation of 17,000 high-quality full and part-time union construction jobs, along with permanent positions, effectively boosting the regional economy.
As the construction of Freedom Plaza moves forward, we'll keep you updated on its impact on the East Side and the broader community.
Stay tuned, folks!
