Transport Project Discussions Led by Vice-Governor Yevgeny Pergun in Kuban Region
Road Development and Transport Infrastructure Expansion at the Heart of Annual Forum in Krasnodar Territory
The Annual Forum of Road Initiatives 2023, dedicated to cutting-edge technologies and intelligent transport systems in road construction, took place in Sirius from May 28 to 30. Key figures, including Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin, addressed the event via video conference, highlighting the significant role of road development in areas such as housing construction, investment attraction, and the increase of tourist flow.
Deputy Prime Minister Khusnullin underscored the impact of road development on various sectors, while First Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Valentin Ivanov discussed upcoming projects in the South. He emphasized the strategic importance of the Southern Federal District as a transport hub, with plans to transport 56 million passengers this summer. To ensure comfort for tourists, the priority is to make the road infrastructure as appealing as possible.
Under the national project "Efficient Transport System," the modernization of Kuban airports is underway, with all airports included in the reconstruction program by 2030. Additionally, the project aims to expand the capacity of marine ports and adjacent railways in the region to 131 million tons.
Vice-Governor of Krasnodar Territory Yevgeny Pergun discussed transport projects for the region via video conference. He explained the focus on the reconstruction of trunk routes connected to the Azov-Black Sea coast, with several significant projects already implemented, such as the Far Western bypass of Krasnodar and the new direction of the A-289 "Krasnodar Temryuk - A-290" highway. These projects are intended to reduce travel times and connect M-4 "Don," the Crimean Bridge, Anapa, Temryuk, and Crimea.
Pergun also shared details about an investment project to build an aerovokzal complex in Krasnodar, which will feature a new terminal area of approximately 82,000 square meters. The forum serves as a beneficial platform for discussing essential industry issues, with one important issue for Krasnodar Territory being the organization of the Northern bypass - an intersection that will separate traffic flows. The bypass will be constructed in accordance with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin and will be integrated into the A-136 highway.
It should be noted that the Krasnodar Territory, as the main resort region of the country, receives special attention in terms of transport infrastructure and road development. The region is a crucial link in international transport corridors, including the North–South International Transport Corridor, which aims to boost freight volumes by 2030. The focus on infrastructure development in the Southern Federal District involves a six-year road construction plan under the national project "Infrastructure for Life," which seeks to maximize throughput capacity and speed of passenger and freight movement. The North–South International Transport Corridor, which includes the Krasnodar Territory, is expected to be integrated with other projects like the Trans-Afghan Railway, enhancing regional connectivity.
Industry and finance will undoubtedly benefit from the efficient transport systems and infrastructure expansions discussed at the Annual Forum in Krasnodar Territory, due to the focus on reducing travel times and increasing the capacity of marine ports and railways. Given the significant emphasis on road development in the region, transportation is on the brink of experiencing comprehensive modernization, fostering investment opportunities in the sector.
