Transportation: New traffic rerouting plan due to water main rupture
In Wiesbaden, several bus lines have been affected by a water pipe burst on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, leading to a detour for most bus lines starting from August 18, 2025. The affected bus lines include 3, 6, 16, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34, 37, 45, 46, 49, and N7 (school bus).
ESWE Verkehr, the local public transport provider, has announced an updated detour (Umleitungsregelung) to accommodate the closure. The bus lines are being rerouted around the closed sections on Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, taking alternative streets to maintain service.
Line 18 is currently not serving the Friedhof Sonnenberg stop due to a water main break. Meanwhile, Line 33 will have an additional detour via Brunhildenstraße.
For Line 22, it will travel on its regular route towards the city center but will bypass Gustav-Stresemann-Ring and continue directly to Berufsschulzentrum via Wettinerstraße.
Lines 21, 27, 269, 274, 275, X79, and 273 (only towards BSZ) will have a detour towards Berufsschulzentrum, bypassing Gustav-Stresemann-Ring and continuing via Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Welfenstraße, Brunhildenstraße, and serving the "Gartenfeldstraße" and "Wittelsbacherstraße" stops.
Lines 16, 28, 37, 45, 46, N7, X26, 262, and school buses will travel on their regular routes towards the city center until the "Hauptbahnhof A" stop, then continue via Gustav-Stresemann-Ring, Wittelsbacherstraße, and Wettinerstraße to Berliner Straße.
Lines 3, 6, 33, 34, 49, and school buses will have a detour towards Freizeitbad, bypassing Gustav-Stresemann-Ring and continuing via Salzbachstraße/Gartenfeldstraße, Mainzer Straße, Welfenstraße, and skipping the "Mainzer Straße" stop.
Substitute bus stops on B455 and New-York-Straße provide transfer options for lines 21, 22, and 37. The "Gartenfeldstraße" stop is served in the detour routes for certain lines towards Berufsschulzentrum and skipped in the detour routes for lines towards Freizeitbad.
Additional general information and current timetable displays are available at the affected stops. An overview of all detours is available on www.eswe-verkehr.de. The interactive route map on www.netzplan-wiesbaden.de provides current timetable information.
For precise stop changes, alternative street routing, and timing adjustments, ESWE Verkehr’s official site provides detailed PDFs and maps under their “Detours” or “News” sections dated from mid-August 2025. Checking the latest updates directly there is recommended for travelers affected by the burst and subsequent closure.
Please note that the left-turn lane on Mainzer Straße towards the city center will be closed during construction.
The updated detour plan was implemented to improve traffic flow and service reliability during the school start period. Travelers are advised to check the latest updates regularly to ensure a smooth journey.
