Unified Commercial Vehicle Brands: Stellantis Brings Together Six Brands Under One Umbrella
Stellantis, the multinational automobile manufacturing company, has announced its strategic initiative, Pro One, aimed at revolutionizing the commercial vehicle sector. The project focuses on sustainability, innovation, and electrification, targeting a circular economy model and expanding its light commercial vehicle (LCV) offerings with electric platforms.
Aiming for Leadership in the Circular Economy
The Pro One project is designed to lead in the circular economy through the 4R strategy (Remanufacturing, Repair, Reuse, and Recycle). This approach aims to extend product lifecycles, reduce waste, and reintegrate materials into production cycles, supporting sustainability and decarbonization ambitions.
Pioneering Circular Economy Facilities
Stellantis has taken a significant step towards this goal by opening the Circular AutoPeças Vehicle Dismantling Center in São Paulo, Brazil, the first such facility in South America. Capable of dismantling up to 8,000 vehicles annually, this center, along with a Vehicle Reconditioning Center at Betim, Brazil, restores vehicles to certified pre-owned quality, emphasizing sustainability and social impact by training local apprentices.
Electric Vehicle Focus
Pro One develops mid-size and large vans using all-electric platforms, catering to growing urban and logistics demands with low emissions. These electric light commercial vehicles (eLCVs) align with tightening regulations and corporate sustainability goals in Europe and beyond. Notably, Stellantis also supplies electric vans to Iveco under a 10-year agreement to expand electric offerings rapidly in Europe.
Technological Advancements
The initiative includes the adaptation of Stellantis’ existing electric vehicle platforms for commercial applications, enabling scalable production and advanced electrification. Their investment in eLCV production facilities, such as those in Ellesmere Port, UK, also supports battery-electric medium LCV manufacturing and sustainability certifications (e.g., BREEAM).
Connecting Commercial Vehicles
Stellantis aims to have 100% of its new vans and pickups connected by the end of 2023. These service packs will include digital maintenance monitoring, eco-drive coaching, task management, and charge management software. Over-the-air updates for Stellantis vehicles will start in 2026.
Electrifying Pickups from 2024
Stellantis plans to electrify four pickups from 2024 onwards. This move is part of the company's commitment to reducing fleet downtime and total cost of ownership, with the objective of optimizing electric vehicle fleets.
A Customer-Centric Strategy
The Pro One project is based on a 360-degree, customer-centric approach. New service packs focused on business continuity and efficiency will be introduced, underscoring Stellantis' dedication to meeting the unique needs of its customers.
Emanuele Cappellano leads Stellantis Pro One, underscoring the unit’s strategic focus on combining innovation with environmental and social responsibility across global commercial vehicle operations.
In summary, Stellantis Pro One integrates circular economy principles, electric vehicle technology, and innovative commercial vehicle products to address sustainability, regulatory compliance, and market demand in the commercial vehicle sector. This includes pioneering circular economy infrastructure in South America and advancing electric commercial vehicle platforms for Europe and global markets.
