VGI sets new tariffs effective from 1st August 2025
The VGI Regional Transport Association has announced changes to its job ticket offerings, effective from August 1st, 2025. The modifications are in response to the altered purchasing behaviour caused by the Germany Ticket.
Key changes include the repositioning of the job ticket, with the Job-Ticket Classic and Job-Ticket Premium being the only job ticket options available from next year. The weekly ticket for adults and children, as well as the half-year job ticket, will no longer be offered. However, already purchased tickets will remain valid.
For children, the 6-journey ticket will have an addition: it will be valid until the 16th birthday. The Job-Ticket Premium will offer coverage for both bus and rail travel for a period of 12 months.
The Job-Ticket Premium will have four fare stages, and from the fourth fare stage, it will become a network ticket. The fare adjustment amounts to a 6.78% increase, which will be applied linearly across all fare stages. Rounding effects will be taken into account, ensuring exact Euro and cent amounts in ticket prices.
Managing Director Dr. Robert Frank emphasizes that many passengers will still be able to use public transport affordably after the fare adjustment. He also highlights the attractive job tickets as an affordable option. Dr. Frank encourages passengers to consider the Germany Ticket, the 365-Euro Ticket, or other discounted tickets as affordable alternatives.
It is important to note that there is no publicly available or reported update on the specifics of fare and ticket structures or job ticket system changes for the VGI Regional Transport Association as of August 2025. For precise details, checking with the official VGI Regional Transport Association website or their customer service would be the most reliable method.
These changes are part of the fare adjustment that was decided on Tuesday, 29th April 2025, and aim to counteract the continually rising distribution costs. Passengers are advised to stay informed and check the official VGI Regional Transport Association website or contact their customer service for the latest updates.
