MCV, a well-established partner of Volvo for over 15 years, has opened a new production line for electric city and intercity buses, dedicated to Volvo, at its site outside Cairo, Egypt. The new production line was inaugurated on 16 September 2021, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two companies.

The new facility spans 10,000 square meters and is expected to increase production capacity and provide flexibility in adapting vehicles for different markets. The first new vehicles from the plant are expected to roll out this autumn, with the Volvo 7900 Electric, Electric Artic city buses, and Volvo 8900 Electric bus being among the models produced.

Magnus Hellberg, the management or head of the newly opened Volvo-specific production facility, spoke about the importance of the new line for both companies. "This new production line is a testament to our commitment to sustainable mobility solutions," he said. "We are proud to be working with Volvo to bring these electric buses to market, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration in the years to come."

MCV has a well-established business model of collaborating with body builders for bus bodies. However, with the new production line, the company will now be producing complete vehicles, marking a new chapter in its history.

The new facility is part of MCV's ongoing collaboration with Volvo, which has seen the company supply bus bodies for various Volvo bus models in the UK for over 15 years. With the new production line, MCV is hopeful that it can expand its reach and make a positive impact on the transportation industry in Egypt and beyond.

The move to electric buses is part of a broader trend towards sustainable mobility solutions, and both MCV and Volvo are committed to playing their part in this transition. The new production line is a significant step in this direction, and both companies are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.

In conclusion, the opening of the new production line for electric city and intercity buses at MCV's site outside Cairo, Egypt, marks an important milestone in the collaboration between MCV and Volvo. The first new vehicles from the plant are expected to roll out this autumn, and the new facility is expected to increase production capacity and provide flexibility in adapting vehicles for different markets. With its commitment to sustainable mobility solutions, MCV is well-positioned to make a positive impact on the transportation industry in Egypt and beyond.
