Witnesses Sought for Potentially Hazardous Road Incident by Federal Law Enforcement

On Sunday evening, at 8 PM, an e-scooter was placed on the railway tracks in the Flingerbroich area, causing a freight train to perform an emergency brake. This incident has led to significant disruptions in freight train traffic and over twelve hours of delays.

The perpetrator of this act is still unknown, and a criminal complaint has been filed against them. The Federal Police in Düsseldorf are currently investigating the case of endangering railway traffic.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind this incident and the extent of the damage caused to the locomotive. The damaged locomotive was towed to Düsseldorf-Rath by a vehicle.

Seven diversions were necessary due to the track closure, causing further disruptions. The Federal Police, assisted by the emergency manager of Deutsche Bahn AG, were on the scene with a patrol.
