Zomato Appoints Aditya Mangla as New CEO of Food Delivery Business

Zomato has appointed Aditya Mangla as the new CEO of its food ordering and delivery business, succeeding Rakesh Ranjan. The appointment comes amidst a slowdown in growth for the segment.

Mangla, who holds a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a PGP from the Indian School of Business, brings extensive experience to the role. He previously founded a logistics startup and served as CEO of the food delivery division at Eternal. Within Zomato, Mangla has held various key positions, including head of supply, head of customer experience, and head of product for delivery near me.

His appointment coincides with a 16% annual increase but a 1% sequential decline in gross order value for Zomato's food delivery segment in the January-March quarter. The company has been experiencing a dip in year-on-year growth, with rates falling below 20% in recent quarters. Mangla's role will be effective from July 6 for a two-year term, as per a regulatory filing. He has also been designated as a senior management personnel (SMP) at Zomato. Meanwhile, Rakesh Ranjan will continue with the company in a different capacity but will no longer hold a senior management designation.

Aditya Mangla's appointment as CEO of Zomato's food ordering and delivery business signals a strategic move by the company to navigate the current slowdown in growth. With his diverse experience and proven track record, Mangla is expected to bring fresh perspectives and drive the segment's growth in his two-year term.
